NORTHS BULLDOGS 42

DEF

MT KEMBLA 0

After round 7 the Norths Bulldogs are well & truly on top! With a very imposing victory over the 2nd placed Mt Kembla Lowries the Bulldogs have skipped away with a 2 game lead on the competition, coupled with a very impressive for & against record. Now begins the 2nd phase of the competition, and a renewed focus on continuing the form that has been displayed over the past 6 games (Round 2 deferred).

The Mt Kembla Lowries regardless of the score line can walk away knowing they never gave up, they played with purpose throughout the entire match. Our Captain/Coach Ellis Hurworth said "The Lowries can hold their heads high, you played a very fast & tough game, and we are hurting from it". There were some great defensive battles right across the park. The Norths boys showed their ability to convert errors into points & this cost the opposition dearly.

With some excellent work by our Scarborough Upholstery Players Player Ben 'Snoop' Field who bagged 4 tries, really shone for the Bulldogs. Shane 'Springa' Grose turned back the clock with a great 60m runaway try! The hamstrings held up for the seasoned veteran in claiming his 2nd try of the match. In the forwards Micheal 'Pelican' Reedy put his shoulder into every tackle, pulling off some great hits! Kurt 'Milkman' Ridley & Andrew 'George' Stephens played their traditional power games with some solid ball carries & tight defence through the middle.

The Corona Cup once again returns to Jim Allen Oval, after Camille Owen returns it!! Camille claimed the coveted Cup after beating our resident Booze Hound Josh Gunning with a solid display of sculling...water of course! It was a great feeling pre & post match on the bus trip with the WAGS & supporters mixing it with the boys. A BIG thanks to everyone who made the trip, it means a lot to the boys & the club to see the level of support we have. Great fun was had by all!

Our thoughts are with the late Mt Kembla Lowries past Coach & Clubman Terry Johnson. The boys paid their respects with a minute silence at the beginning of the match. We wish his family & friends all the best.

By no means is the job done, this is now the beginning of phase 2. The Norths Club is no stranger to dominating the competition but coming unstuck when it really counts. The coaching staff & players are well aware of this & will maintain the focus. There are always improvements whether it be on a personal level or as a team, we know we can all work on different aspects of our game. That's what phase 2 is about, fine tuning & continuing to improve. Each game will be harder than the last, each team will be out to match it with the benchmark & knock us off our perch.

This Saturday 3pm we return to Jim Allen Oval after 3 games on the road against North Surf. Disregard their previous form, they will be out to get the Bulldogs! We need ensure we are on our game, keep composed & hit our targets.

See you at the game,

Cheers & WOOF!
